Casa Castagna is one of a few properties in the small, centuries old, Tuscan hamlet of Fonaco. This is located on the crest of a leafy ridge of high ground about three miles southwest of the ancient picturesque hilltop village of Monterchi and within a short distance of the Tuscan border with Umbria.

Monterchi lies on the east/west road from Citta di Castello to Arezzo and is just south of Anghiari. Citta di Castello is situated in the Upper Tiber Valley through wihch runs the famous E45 superstrade from Forli and Cesena south to Perugia and Rome. Arezzo is at the top of the Chiana Valley on the A1 autostrade which runs south from Bologna and Florence to Orvieto and Rome.

The village is equidistant from either coast and lies in the middle of the birthplace of the Renaissance. Being so central, many places of considerable interest and beauty are easily accessible in all directions.
